Pittsburgh Penguins Win 2009 Stanley Cup Finals


In what was a rematch of last year’s finals, the Penguins wanted revenge and was close to not getting the cup again. The Penguins battled back to tie the series with the Detroit Red Wings and force a game 7. The game started tough and intense but the goals did not come until the second period. The Penguins scored 2 goals and were up 2-0 until the third period. The Red Wings scored one goal to make it 2-1 but on a near last second chance, the Penguins came up with the stop and won the Stanley Cup Finals. Evgeni Maklin was named MVP.
