The Chicago Bulls took a 1-0 series lead over the Philadelphia 76ers today but may have lost even more. Their star point guard, Derrick Rose, tore his ACL, towards the and of the game and will be out for the rest of the playoffs. The Bulls won the game 103-91, but as Rose went to the lane he landed bad in where he tore his ACL in his knee. The Bulls will really miss Rose’s presence on the floor, especially as they look to make a playoff push.
The Heat/Bulls matchup is turning into a marquee one and yesterday proved it again. The Heat were up most of the game until late in the 4th quarter. Derrick Rose had some key plays but missed two key free-throws and the game-tying shot at the end of the game but ended with 34 pts, 6 reb, and 6 ast. Lebron had a monster game with 35 pts, 11 reb, and 5 ast, including a dunk where he jumped over John Lucas. Great game though.
It was a great opening day in the NBA yesterday on Christmas Day. 5 back to back to back to back to back game between ABC and ESPN which started at 12 noon.
The New York Knicks won the opening game over the Boston Celtics 106-104. Close game but a late foul put the Knicks up by 2 and they won the game. Carmelo Anthony had 37 Pts, 8 Reb, 3 Ast, 2 Stl, 1 Blk in the game.
The NBA Finals rematch was next between the Heat and Mavericks and this one was all one sided. Lebron James went crazy as the Heat were up as much as by 35 points during the game. James had 37 Pts, 10 Reb, 6 Ast, 2 Stl, 2 Blk in the 105-94 victory.
Current NBA MVP Derrick Rose went to LA to take on the Lakers in game 3 and led a rally that ended with the game winning shot with 4 seconds left in the game. Rose had 22 points in the 88-87 win. Kobe had the last shot but it was blocked by Luol Deng to seal the deal.
Game 4 was between the Thunder and the Magic. The Thunder held Dwight Howard to 11 points in the 97-89 win. Kevin Durant scored 30 points in the win.
The last game was between the new look LA Clippers and the debut of Mark Jackson as the Golden State head coach. It was close but the CLippers pulled off a 105-86 victory. Chris Paul had 20 Pts, 2 Reb, 9 Ast, 2 Stl in his debut.
Derrick Rose has officially won the 2011 NBA MVP Award. He had an amazing regular season and first-round of the playoffs so far that led to him winning this award. Rose lead his team to the best record in the league and overall No. 1 seed in the playoffs. Congrats goes to D. Rose.
The Denver Nuggets and Chicago Bulls game last night was decided on a last second shot. Brad Miller threw up a shot in the final seconds and the Bulls and their fans thought it was going to be the game winner. Thanks to instant replay, it was not and the Nuggets escaped a 90-89 victory over the Bulls. Carmelo Anthony dropped 20 points and Chauncey Billups added 17 points for the Nuggets. Derrick Rose had 22 points for the Bulls.
Wow! Who would have thought this series would go to 7 games? Who would have thought the BULLS would give Boston so much competition? Who would have thought that this series was going to have 4 overtime game? Last night the Chicago Bulls were on the brink of elimination but they were not going down. Derrick Rose scored 28 and John Salmons scored 35 for the Bulls. Ray Allen scored 51 for the Celtics. The crazy part is that the game went to three overtime periods before the Bulls could snatch a 128-127 victory over the Celtics and force a game seven to be played on Saturday. Who do you think will win the series?
It was no surprise that Chicago Bulls point guard, Derrick Rose was named NBA Rookie of the Year. He had a good season and led his Bulls to the playoffs. Also, he had a great game 1 versus the defending champs, where he tied the record for most points in a rookie playoff debut with 36 points. Congrats Derrick Rose.
A lot of people were are skeptical on the Boston Celtics playoff possibilities being that they have not been playing well as of late. This is also due to the “Big Ticket”, Kevin Garnett, not being available for the playoffs. In today’s game 1 versus the Bulls, The C’s were down 53-44 at halftime. The second half was rally time for the Celtics. The fourth quart was crunch time as the Celtics rallied and had a 96-95 lead with :22 seconds left in the game. Then it got crazy and the game went to overtime. Derrick Rose ended up tying the record for most points in a playoff debut with 36 points. In overtime, it was neck and neck until the Chicago Bulls were able to make keys defensive plays and win 105-103.
