Alex Rodriguez Hits 600th Homerun Of His Career

Yankee’s 3rd baseman Alex Rodriguez hit his 600th homerun for his career this afternoon. He hit it off of he Toronto Blue Jay’s Shawn Marcum. He was in a little slump but he was able to get it today. He became the 7th player in history to do so and the youngest to reach it ever. Congrats A-Rod!

New York Yankees Acquire Curtis Granderson

The New York Yankees have did their first big move during the off season. The World Series champion Yankees get Granderson and Arizona gets All-Star pitcher Edwin Jackson and right-hander Ian Kennedy. The Tigers receive reliever Phil Coke and three touted prospects — outfielder Austin Jackson and pitchers Max Scherzer and Daniel Schlereth.

Philadelphia Phillies 8 – NY Yankees 6 (World Series Game 5)

This game was do or die for the Philadelphia Phillies facing elimination. Phillies ace Cliff Lee was on the mound today and pitched a pretty good game. Chase Utley started the rally with a 3-run homerun in the first and a solo homerun in the 7th. In the top of the 8th Lee gave up another 2 runs in the game which made it 8-4 Phillies at that point. The Yankees added 2 more runs, but Chad Durbin was able to hold off in the 9th for a 8-6 victory for the Phillies sending the series back to New York at 3-2 Yankees.

NY Yankees 7 – Philadelphia Phillies 4 (World Series Game 4)

The New York Yankees are only 1 win away from winning their 27th World Series title in franchise history. They came in yesterday and had a 4-2 lead that was tied up in the 8th inning with a Pedro Feliz homerun for the Phillies. Then in the bottom of the 9th, Damon stole second and third base on the same play and Alex Rodriguez hid the go-ahead rbi off of Brad Lidge as the Yankees ended up winning 7-4 and take a commanding 3-1 series lead.

New York Yankees 7 – Minnesota Twins 2 (Game 1)

The Twins had a long trip from winning the tiebreaker against the Tigers on Tuesday, then traveling to New York to play the Yankees on Wednesday. It shoes as they could not capitalize with runners on base and the Yankees took advantage and won game 1 by the score of 7-2. Game 2 is on Friday.
